Mock Trial started 2017 off on a strong foot at the UC Invitational. Here is an update from Coach Reger:
While our wrestling, academic, and basketball teams were dominating on the court Saturday, our Mock Trial teams were dominating IN court.
Today we attended the UC Mock Trial Invitational, an event we have won three years in a row. Last year, we did the unthinkable (we finished 1st, 2nd, and 3rd - winning 10 of 12 possible awards).
We knew we couldn't equal that this year, so we didn't try to. We tried to surpass it, and we did.
We again placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd (thus winning this title for the fourth year in a row), but this time we won 11 of 12 possible awards.
Outstanding witness awards were won by: Sydney Miles (12), Trey Skidmore (10), Antonio Vega-Torres (11), Llyona Lallement (11), and Milan Bhandari (12).
Outstanding attorney awards were won by: Jeongwon Ryu (12), Cam Metz (11), James Orr (11), and Mrinal Singh (12). And tournament MVP Albert Kwon (10) won TWO of these awards, the only person to do so all day.
Of the 28 teams at this state-wide tournament, only 3 teams went undefeated - and they were all ours.
Our Red team (all Seniors) placed 3rd; our Black Team (all Sophomores who placed 2nd at Miami last month) placed 2nd again; and our White Team (all Juniors who won the Miami tournament last month) won it all again.
Since we started attending these college tournaments, we are now 6-0, having won UC all four times we entered and having won both of the two Miami tournaments.
With little time to rest on their laurels, these wonderful kids will now set their sights on another District title as we compete into the wee hours of the night on Thursday the 19th.
I hope you'll join me in applauding their efforts and results.
