Earlier this week, U.S. News and World Report released its 2017 rankings of best high schools in the country. This annual ranking is based upon: 1) performance on state proficiency tests in reading and math while factoring in the percentage of economically disadvantaged students performing better than statistical expectations; 2) comparison of reading and math proficiency rates for disadvantaged students; 3) graduation rate benchmark; and 4) a College Readiness Index determined by the school’s Advanced Placement (AP) participation rate, the number of 12th grade students who took and passed an AP test, and the number of 12th graders at the school.

Indian Hill received a Gold Medal ranking, coming in third in the state and 125th in the nation, out of over 6,000 high schools that were ranked. This is up one spot in Ohio and 56 spots nationally, compared to last year.

Only 2.4% of high schools received a gold medal, 10.3% a silver medal, 16.8% a bronze medal, and 70.5% no medal.

As a reminder, each publication uses its own "formula" to determine the quality of high schools throughout the country. Regardless of the formula, we are thankful for this recognition of the educational services provided throughout our District.
