Did you notice red carpet, crowds and paparazzi on Saturday evening, November 19, at Indian Hill High School? If so, that was the IHHS Premieres, Indian Hill High School’s top co-ed choir, performing “Cabaret 2016 Red Carpet Premieres,” the group’s annual fundraiser.

Music Director Jeff Clark initiated a change this year with the fundraising performance becoming a community-wide event instead of simply for participating families. Coming from a show choir and high production background, Mr. Clark saw the opportunity the IHHS auditorium facility offered, allowing for a bigger production with enhanced sound, lighting and special effects – and more room for attendees. This is Mr. Clark’s first year at IHHS, after previously serving as Choral Director at Fairfield High School.

The theme of this year’s annual cabaret was “Icons on Stage and Screen.” Music by favorites including Billy Joel, Whitney Houston, The Beatles and Aerosmith entertained the crowd of almost 300. Mr. Clark describes, “Many long hours went into preparing the evening's events. Students worked since before the school year started to prepare music and dance routines, and parents met often to work out all the logistics for our red carpet party.”

The event started with a pre-party of appetizers and specialty drinks provided by Cat’s Meow Catering. Intermission featured coffee and desserts donated by parent bakers.

“I knew I had big shoes to fill and didn’t know if coming in my first year and making changes would work, but I couldn’t resist using the IHHS beautiful [auditorium] facility,” said a smiling Mr. Clark at the end of the show, adding happily, “I could not be more proud of the Premieres and their families, and appreciate the warm welcome into the IH community!”
